Facet Arthropathy can also be called Facet Pain or Facet Joint Syndrome. It is a pain due to inflammation and or degeneration at the facet joint(s) in the spine. The facet joint is a joint that connects one vertebra to the next from top to bottom. These joints are typically stabilizing joints and help with turning motions in the spine.
Facet pain can occur at the following parts of the spine:
- Cervical (Neck)
- Thoracic (Mid Back)
- Lumbar (Low Back)
The activities that can cause or contribute to facet joint pain include but are not limited to the following:
- Prolonged sitting and standing
- Poor posture
