Sacroiliitis (SI Pain)

Sacroiliitis can also be referred to as sacroiliac pain. This is a diagnosis that is often mistaken for other causes of lower back pain. This diagnosis can cause pain in the low back and/or buttocks and can even go into the upper part of the thigh.

SI pain can be the result of inflammation, movement and/or irritation along one or both of the joints that connect the lower part of the spine (sacrum) to the pelvis.

Activities that can cause SI issues include but are not limited to the following:

  • Stair climbing
  • Prolonged standing
  • Elliptical training
  • Pregnancy
  • Dancing
  • Tennis
  • Soccer
