Spondylosis

Spondylosis is a diagnosis that is associated with age related degeneration (wearing away) of the space between the vertebrae which can cause bone spurs to develop and take up space in the spine. This can also affect the openings at the side of your spinal bones (vertebrae). It can also be associated with osteoarthritis (wearing away of cartilage around bone) of the joints within the spine.

In general, spondylosis can worsen with age and often affects those with arthritis and those with a family history of this diagnosis.

Spondylosis can cause pain in the spine and can be seen in the following areas:

  • Cervical (Neck) – most common
  • Thoracic (Mid Back)
  • Lumbar (Low Back)
