Chondromalacia is a diagnosis that is associated with dysfunction of the knee cap (patella). It typically occurs from bone misalignment and/or a muscle imbalance. The improper function of the knee cap in the groove of the upper leg bone (femur) can cause Chondromalacia. Sports injuries, growing children and those who have abnormal muscle pulling are usually a contributing factor for developing Chondromalacia.
