Joint Replacements

Joint replacement surgery is used to correct arthritis or the wearing away of cartilage between joints, which is our body’s natural cushioning. Physical therapy is used to you after a joint replacement surgery to decrease pain, improve motion, increase strength and improve function.

The most common areas of the body that receive joint replacements include but are not limited to the following:

  • Knees
  • Hips
  • Shoulders

Proper planning before surgery can greatly improve your success for surgery and rehab following the surgery. If you are planning on having a joint replacement, we can provide you with the following information:

  • The surgical procedure
  • What to expect after the surgery
  • Care for you that may be required after surgery
  • What your level of function may be after the surgery
  • What you can plan for your return to work and/or other activities
