Tendonitis is referred to as inflammation and/or irritation of a tendon within the body. Tendons are responsible for connecting muscle to bone and they assist with all movement of the body.
Continuous or repetitive movements and/or strain on a tendon can lead to irritation and eventual weakening of a tendon (tendonosis).
The parts of the body that are often associated with tendonitis include but are not limited to:
- Supraspinatus Tendonitis or Tendonosis
- Biceps (Bicipital Tendonitis)
- Elbow (Tennis Elbow)
- Patella (Patellar Tendonitis)
- IT Band
The following activities can cause or contribute to tendonitis. These include but are not limited to:
- Running/Cross Country
- Repetitive overuse
- Computer work
